How your soul spectrum is calculated

Our 66-question test uses seven separate, original item groups. Each answer contributes to one virtue. We publish the calculation so you can understand what the numbers say—and what they do not.
From an answer to a score
- Choose from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree).
- For direct items, subtract 1 to obtain a value from 0 to 4. For reverse items, subtract your response from 5.
- Add those values within each virtue, divide by four times its question count, then multiply by 100.
- Round each score to the nearest whole number. Rank the seven displayed scores from highest to lowest.
Example: if your keyed values add to 27 across nine questions, the score is 27 ÷ 36 × 100 = 75%. This expresses alignment with those items, not a population percentile.
What is in the question bank?
Determination, Kindness and Perseverance have ten items each. Bravery, Justice, Patience and Integrity have nine each. There are 33 direct and 33 reverse items overall. Questions are interleaved so neighboring questions usually explore different traits.
Close and balanced results
A difference of three points or fewer between the top two scores produces close leaders. If the highest and lowest scores are within ten points, we show a balanced spectrum. These are our editorial display rules, not statistical confidence intervals. Exact ties retain a stable display order; this does not make one tied virtue stronger.
What this test can establish
The questions and seven-scale model are independently authored for entertainment and reflection. We have not validated them as a psychological instrument. More questions do not by themselves establish greater accuracy. A low score is not evidence that someone lacks a virtue.
Our relationship to the original

Calculation and sharing format: version 1. Future scoring changes will use a new version so saved results are not silently reinterpreted.
